Registration and Organization
To enable participation in a competition (to execute the participation agreement), IOU Netherlands processes the following data from participants:
This data is processed to register participants, to schedule the competition, to communicate about participation in the competition, to collect entry fees, and to carry out other activities necessary for the organization of the competition. IOU Nederland retains this data for two years.
Competition results/protest notifications
IOU Netherlands also processes the aforementioned overviews in connection with the organization of the competition and the execution of the participation agreement. These overviews include:

Publication of competition results
Race results are shared with participants for the organization of the race. Race results are also publicly shared and published on the IOU Netherlands website, https://www.olympiajol.nl/. The IOU Netherlands has a legitimate interest in this due to the publicity benefits for the sailors, teams, and sponsors, and the promotion of water sports in general.
Media
Media (photos and videos) may be taken during competitions. Media with newsworthy and/or promotional value will be published on the IOU Netherlands website based on a legitimate interest of IOU Netherlands, which lies in promoting the competition event, the organization, and water sports in general.
Media of children and media within amateur sports without newsworthy and/or promotional value will, in principle, only be shared internally with participants. Publication will only take place with the consent of the participant or their parent(s) / guardian(s). IOU Netherlands retains this data for two years. After this period, images with historical and statistical value will be archived
Third parties
Race data is processed using ZW scoring (IOU Netherlands is not a licensee of manage2sail.com).
Personal data included in the participant lists for organizing the race (to execute the participation agreement) is also shared with the Dutch Watersports Association (Watersportverbond) so that the validity of the required licenses can be verified.
Security
IOU Netherlands has taken all appropriate organizational and technical measures to protect the personal data it processes against loss and unlawful processing. For example, an authorization policy is in place, and the network within which the data is processed is secured according to current security standards. Furthermore, employees and volunteers are trained to handle personal data carefully, and the privacy policy is periodically evaluated.
Rights of participants
You have the right to object to the processing of your data if we process it based on a legitimate interest, to withdraw previously given consent, and to access, correct, or delete your data. You can also ask us, in appropriate cases, to restrict the processing of your personal data or to transfer your data to yourself or a third party.
